I started to love the book, until about half way thru when it just didn't make sense . I read until the very end and was pretty angry at the ending because nothing equaled up and it was just a sorry ending where it seems as if someone else came and wrote the last chapter without reading the entire book before. Silly read.

S Is for Stranger Louise Stone 9780008205744 Books Reviews

Many twists and turns. I changed my mind several times as to who did it. The end came too soon. I wanted more answers how did the child end up in the trunk of the nanny's car. A couple more chapters would have brought more closure for me. I would definitely recommend this book.
The writing was good but the book didn't make sense. I feel like some characters didn't have a good introduction so they kind of just came out of nowhere. The story line was great but it wasn't executed well at all. I was confused a lot of the time about the story line and there wasn't much explanation. You can guess what is going on but the book never clarifies. I read the entire book so it wasn't so bad that I had to stop. I'll be reading her other book just to see if that's her writing style or if it was just that particular story.
At firs, the story started off strong and quickly developed the characters. However, as the story continued, nothing made sense, everything was jumbled and it was like there was too much going on to fully follow. By the time the book ended, nothing made sense and the ending was lackluster. It was rather predictable and the loose ends were not tied up. I was rather disappointed in the whole story. There really wasn't that much violence and some sexual content was eluded to, but it wasn't graphic (nor did it make sense). Overall, I would not read this book, nor would I read anything else by this author. Very disappointing. Don't waste your time.
Misspellings, bad grammar (not intentional), badly written story...I said to my partner "if this turns out to be the herione I won't read this author again. A real waste of time for me...I'm glad for the author that others liked it.
I'm not a fan of British books in general, and this book reminded me of this. I'm going to admit that it took considerably longer to read than I'd expected. I enjoyed the story itself, but there were aspects that prevented me from truly getting into it. I questioned the writing at multiple points and, while the story was a good one, it felt unfinished somehow.
It makes an interesting read. There is plenty of nail biting suspense, while keeping the level of violence low! I would have given it 5 Stars but I wished, when I finished the book, that the end could have been different! Although I must say that the way it ended was very unexpected!
Sophie was at a fairgrounds with her daughter and her ex husband. She looked away for a few seconds and Amy was gone. And so was her ex husband. But he claimed he was never there!

I liked the book until the end. The characters were well-drawn. The story was interesting with mysterious memories and lapses. But then the end came. It just left me flat. I needed more of an explanation. I felt it was a big buildup for nothing. I was very disappointed.
I started to love the book, until about half way thru when it just didn't make sense . I read until the very end and was pretty angry at the ending because nothing equaled up and it was just a sorry ending where it seems as if someone else came and wrote the last chapter without reading the entire book before.
